Recommendation: A motion is needed to go into a Closed Meeting to discuss the following items and subjects pursuant to Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia (1950) as amended:

1. The discussion and/or consideration of the Personnel Report regarding prospective candidates for employment, assignment, appointment, promotion, performance, demotion, salaries, disciplining, or resignation of specific employees of the school board, and more specifically as it relates to the following:

A. Resignations of specific instructional and non-instructional employees of Suffolk Public Schools;

B. The hiring of specific instructional personnel;

C. The hiring of specific non-instructional personnel;

D. The hiring of specific part time employees;

E. The hiring of specific substitute employees;

F. Salary stipends for specific substitute bus driver trainees;

G. Request for specific employees to provide English Language Learners (ELL) support at John F. Kennedy Middle School, Kings Fork High School (3), Nansemond Point Elementary School (3), Creekside Elementary School (2), Florence Bowser Elementary School, Lakeland High School, Col. Fred Cherry Middle School;

H. Request for specific employee to provide part-time clerical support at School Administrative Offices;

I. Request for specific employees to receive additional compensation for serving as facilitators for S.T.R.E.A.M.ing into Excellence program at Booker T. Washington Elementary School from October 7, 2019 until August 31, 2020;

J. Request for specific employees to receive a stipend for participating in the Focus Group planning grant in the amount of $250 a person;

K. Request for specific employees to work as a homebound teacher at King’s Fork High School and Kilby Shores Elementary School for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year;

L. Request for specific employees to receive a stipend for participating in the Focus Group planning grant in the amount of $50 a person;

M. Request for specific employees to receive additional compensation for teaching a Z Block class after school for the 2019-2020 school year at Kings Fork High School;

N. Request for a specific employee to receive additional compensation for teaching an extra class of (CTE) Fashion Marketing for the 2019-2020 school year at King’s Fork High School;

O. Request for a specific employee to serve as a tutor in the Algebra Readiness Program for the 2019-2020 school year at Lakeland High School;

P. Request for a specific employee to receive compensation for after school tutoring (SOL), at Nansemond River High School during the 2019-2020 school year;

Q. Request for approval for specific employees to serve as substitute bus driver;

R. Request for approval of a specific employee for leave of absence;

S. Recommendation for appointment of Deputy Clerk of the Board;

T. Recommendation for appointment of Community Engagement Officer;

U. Recommendation for appointment of Supervisor of Special Education; and

V. Recommendation for appointment of Assistant Principal of Nansemond Parkway Elementary School.

2. The discussion and/or consideration of the Pupil Personnel Report relative to out of zone requests regarding specific students enrolled in Suffolk Public Schools and student disciplinary matters where the discussion in open meeting would involve the disclosure of information contained in the student’s scholastic record; and

3. Consultation with legal counsel regarding a specific legal matter requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel and more specifically Transgender Guidelines.

All of which is authorized by Section 2.2-3711 A (1), (2) and (8) of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended.
